Trudging along

Its been a rather uninspired couple of weeks. Work has been draining the joy out of me, and my knitting moments are too few and far between. The clouds did part though as I got a package from my SP2! This time it was the Handspinners Handbook and The Fun Sock - the former filled with tons of great spinning info and the later filled with awesome patterns for my beloved koigu sock yarn. I already have my eye on a couple of different pairs of socks in there. Thank you to my SP2 - you are so thoughtful!

My second Broadripple sock is moving right along - about an inch or so before I do the heel flap. Turning the heel seems very much like things go super fast after that so I'm chugging along and hoping to get to that point by the weekend. The last time I attempted a sock I was knitting English and it was going soooo slow that I never made it past the rib cuff. Ribbing now is no sweat for me that I'm knitting Continental. Addi turbos are real nice also - I was forever stabbing myself with the DPNs that I've vowed to not use them again and taught myself the Magic Loop method. So I refuse to be stuck with the One Sock Syndrome.. proofs in the puddin. And the color is not quite that bright - the flash sort of makes it a little more vibrant than it is. Still a lovely colorway though. I must get me some more of this Opal Handpaint, pretty spendy though - this pair is slated for my dear ol' sister since the cuff is a bit snug around my calf.

On the spinning front I've been working through some of the lovely stuff that I'd gotten from Carolina Homespun, and the blue faced leicaster is definately a favorite. I've been getting hooked on trying to spin thinner and thinner and managed to get a decent 180 yards or so out of 4 ounces of the stuff that was hand dyed in this lovely yellow, peachy pink colorway - Guardians of Fire from Blue Moon Spinnery but it was more like summery melons to me.

Its hard to avoid the occasional blurp of yarn that slips through and messes up my attempt at consistency but I think it turned out real pretty none the less. The last bit of fiber I've been working on is some lovely merino top thats very nice to work with, its dyed a deep burgundy with some green and gold streaks for highlight.

And to close out a rather long day, I give you.. Lila... the damn cutest dog in the world.

I am SO glad the books arrived safely. Another package went in the mail to you yesterday, and you should have it by the end of the week!
