Watching the destruction after Hurricane Frances I went to the Red Cross web site to see where I might be able to donate some money to help the relief efforts. And what might I happen to find? Something knit related!

Complete with yarn, needles and knitting pattern.. How cool is that! So I have a tin on its way to me now and cant wait to see it.

The weekend has been pretty quiet - filled with the requisite BBQs and lots of lazing around. Its been much hotter than normal the last few days - up into the mid 90s and I live near the beach - I can only imagine what its like in East County. Its hard to sleep when it's this hot out. But I've been working on the much neglected Broadripple sock, just turned the heel and working on the foot now. I've also spun all the fiber that my awesome SP2 sent me last week - I wish that my spinning skills could do it justice but alas... It came out really nice though. I'll have to post a picture of it after its completely dry.
About me...

Yeah, ick about this weather. From what I've been hearing, though, it's been just as hot on the coast and northern areas as here in lovely La Mesa.
Anyway, re: your q on my my blog, I have found the soysilk blend I got to be really slick as well, and the staple is so short, and I'm trying to spin it lace-weight to get the most out of my two ounces, yet I still want it to be soft...it's one reason I dyed it because I have found that sometimes dyeing makes the fibers less slippery. I haven't played with it since I dyed it, but I'll let you know if I come up with a better answer. For one thing, I've made sure that the draw (you know, the regulation of your drafting zone) I use is is really short, and the pull from the bobbin is really soft, and changed to my smallest whorl for the higher ratio for more twist.
I love trying these new fibers, but after a while I just spun another fourounces of wool and popped the soysilk in the dyepot. I'll take another whack at it soon.
