Catching up on things
Its been a busy few weeks - the hustle and bustle of the holidays finally here and learning to juggle work and play is never very easy. I've been enjoying a couple of days off, playing a lot of EQ2 and doing a little knitting here and there.
First off a few things that I've been dreadfully slow about doing and am quite remiss in neglecting. My Secret Pal 2 was the wonderful Laurie who does not currently have a blog - she really should though - I'd love to see all of her knitting and spinning endeavors in full color. Thank you so much Laurie - you really were superb. I adored everything she gave me and she was a totally stellar Secret Pal. My birthday is coming in a couple of weeks and in the mail I just got the most adorable card and stitch markers from Jenanne! It was a super surprise and they are a great addition to my tool set. Thank you very much!
They are really cute with little green bead dangly bits.

And finally - after so many months of a row here and there - I got the Broadripple socks completed. They are going to be for my sister and her birthday is tomorrow so I suppose the timing isnt too bad after all. The pattern was really easy to memorize, and I ended up modifying it slightly to get a rounder toe by decreasing less often and seaming up the toe earlier so that it would not be quite so pointy when it was put on. The yarn was Opal hand paints, which is machine washable and was really nice to work with. I didnt have problems with splitting, and I used the magic loop method with 40" long size 2 addi turbos.

The subtle variations in the yarn as I knit made it really pretty to work with, I enjoyed it a lot and vow to always have a sock going cause its so darn portable.
My current big project is SnB's Manly Sweater in size Extra Large using Elann's lovely Peruvian Highland Wool, in Heather green. I'm only about 35-40% done on the back but its a repetative rib so its easy to get a row in here and there. Hopefully that one will get done before March.
